Our mission at The Ontario Golf Academy at Whistle Bear Golf Club is to provide students of all ages and skill levels with an exceptional learning program aimed at developing the required skills to play to their full potential.

By sharing our experience and knowledge of golf, our objective is to help golfers develop their the game, improve their skills and enhance their overall enjoyment of the game.


Meet Our PGA Instruction Team


Adam Tobin

Adam has been the driving force behind Whistle Bear Golf Club since 2015. As a 12-year PGA of Canada member, he has been recognized as a leader in the industry. Throughout his experience he has serviced a number of clubs and facilities around the country. Adam has been recognized as 2012 Ontario Assistant Golf Professional of the Year, 2016 Ontario Retailer of the Year, and 2016 National PGA of Canada Retailer of the Year.


Cory Southon

Cory Southon joined the PGA of Canada in 2011 and has spent the past seven years working alongside Golf Magazine Top 100 Teacher Henry Brunton at his academies in Toronto and Orlando, Florida. Cory combines his love and passion for playing the game with helping others improve and succeed. He excels in ongoing professional development and specialized training. Cory is a Provincial and National award winner with the PGA of Canada, most recently winning the Moe Norman Award in 2015. An outstanding individual and highly trained modern golf coach, students of all ages are sure to enjoy Cory's warm personality and genuine interest in helping them reach their goals.


Mike Martz

Mike joins the Ontario Golf Academy with a vast knowledge of the golf swing. A Kinesiology degree, coupled with 30 years PGA of Canada experience, has given Mike a sound scientific understanding of human movement and how it should be taught and learned. Mike has been involved with the PGA of Canada in a number of coaching initiatives, has conducted ball striking clinics with Canadian legend Moe Norman, and has initiated and conducted clinics for golfers with disabilities and Special Olympians. Mike is certified to coach new competitors and is certified to coach developing competitors (the highest available coaching certification). Mike is one of four coaches nationwide to hold both certification levels.

Mark Wilson

Mark has been instructing at the Ontario Golf Academy for over 10 seasons. With a successful playing background, Mark was a Canadian PGA tour card holder from 1998-2003. He graduated from the University of Texas and is a Class A member of the PGA of Canada. Mark enjoys focusing on fundamental movements to make the golf swing more efficient and easier to learn.


Shauna Wilde

Shauna is a PGA of Canada Class A Professional who attended the University of Long Island University on a full golf scholarship and graduated with honours in 2005. Shauna was named the NCAA Division 1 Northeast Conference Golfer of the Year after winning and setting a new scoring record at the NEC Championship. In 2007 Shauna won the Canadian College National Golf Championship and was selected to represent Canada at the World University Games in Bangkok. Shauna is a long standing member of the PGA of Canada and looks forward to working with her students.


Chevy Rennie

Chevy specializes in quantitative analysis and feedback of the golf swing at all skill levels. With certification through the Titleist Performance Institute, Trackman University, PGA of Canada, and NCCP, Chevy has developed a balanced teaching regime of body mechanics and swing dynamics. His passion is driven by a holistic approach to golf performance and development that promotes creating a swing that is most efficient to your specific body movement characteristics. His attitude towards golf encourages development in a comfortable learning environment.


Brett Kudoba

Brett started playing golf at the age of 15 when he joined the Whistle Bear Performance Team. He started to compete in provincial tournaments throughout high school and college. Brett decided to turn his passion into a career by attending Humber College for Professional Golf Management, which led to joining the Whistle Bear team in 2015. He recently graduated from Humber College and is now a PGA of Canada Apprentice Professional. Brett is excited to share his knowledge of Trackman and club technology with the membership and guests.


Brad Larente

Brad has been a PGA of Canada Apprentice Professional since 2014 and was awarded the 2015 Ontario Zone Candidate for Membership Player of the Year. Brad had a very successful competitive career and was previously a nationally and internationally ranked amateur golfer. Brad works closely with his students by sharing his experiences while assisting them in improving their golf game.


Francisco Matos

Francisco Matos’ journey to becoming a golf coach began early on as he was born and raised in Azores. He started teaching golf just before turning professional in 2015.  He is educated at University Lusophone of Humanities and Technologies where he graduated with a Master’s Degree in Physical Education. He is certified as a level three instructor with both the United States Golf Teaching Federation and the Portuguese Golf Federation. Francisco is a wonderful golf coach who has an advanced knowledge of the game. Golfers of all ages and abilities will enjoy working with him. 


Kyle Deighan

Kyle Deighan has been a member of the PGA of Canada for over 20 years and a Class A member since 1995. He has worked in all aspects of the golf industry, teaching at a number of local clubs. Using modern techniques that include video analysis, his teaching methods assist his clients to elevate their golf game.


Ben Moser

We welcome Ben Moser back to Whistle Bear Golf Club as the Custom Club Fitting Technician. For several years Ben has led the way in providing customers with the best club fitting experiences possible. He was a member of the Canadian National Junior Team, had a standout career with the University of Houston golf team and is a former Touring professional. The most fulfilling part of his job is ensuring the customer sees improvements in their game in the few hours they spend together. When our clients leave, they will see the differences and be excited about their future in golf.


Brooke Sharpe

A part of the Whistle Bear team since 2011, Brooke is a graduate from University of Detroit Mercy where she was a NCAA Division 1 golf team member. She successfully completed her Bachelors of Science degree in Business Administration and is currently continuing her coaching passion. Brooke had a successful playing career, including the 2014 Horizon League Conference Champion and has completed the OFSAA Coaching in Ontario schools certificate, the PGA of Canada Community Golf Coach certificate and has been a volunteer for The First Tee of Greater Detroit. Brooke enjoys working with junior campers and sharing her passion with the younger generation.
